Lyme Disease

The Lyme Disease Pandemic

Lyme disease is the most common vector borne disease in North America, with over 300,000 new cases diagnosed each year. The reporting numbers are likely underestimated because case reporting is inconsistent and many infections go undiagnosed. Education is absolutely necessary if we are to reverse the course of this growing epidemic.

Borellia Burgdorfori is the spirochete bacteria that is to blame for the symptoms of Lyme disease, however there are also other microorganisms that get transmitted which can also contribute to the symptoms of Lyme disease. These microorganisms simultaneously come on board with the Borrelia bacteria when bit by a tick or other vector of Lyme disease. The most common “Co-infections” include:

  • Babesia microti
  • Bartonella henselae
  • Ehrlichia equii
  • Rickettsia rickettsii
  • Mycoplasma pneumoniae
  • Chlamydia pneumoniae
  • Anaplasma phagocytophilum
  • Protomyxzoa rhematica

In other words, when you get Lyme disease, you get a combination of microorganisms that contribute to chronic inflammation and a wide variety of symptoms. There are 36 species of borrelia and labs test for only 1 species. There are also 31 strains of Bartonella and over 14 strains of Babesia. Traditional lab tests are frequently negative because the immune system is suppressed by the high load of microorganisms to the point where antibodies are not able to be secreted in the blood.

The resilence and strength of your immune system and “The 7-Factors” are critical to protecting yourself from the symptoms of the disease.
